Event Details
Course introduction:
Electro-clinical phenotyping is not out-dated – from seizure type and EEG pattern to syndrome diagnosis and etiology in developmental and epileptic encephalopathies in infancy.
Accurate diagnosis of seizure types is particularly challenging in neonates and infants, essential together with electroencephalographic findings and clinical context for epilepsy syndrome diagnosis and guidance towards etiology, treatment choice and prognosis, even in the era of rapidly increasing knowledge in genetics.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar the participants will be able to:
- Recognize the different seizure types and EEG patterns present in developmental and epileptic encephalopathies in infancy.
- Understand the necessary recording techniques in this age group.
- Understand the value of electro-clinical phenotyping for differential diagnosis and clinical management.
