63rd International Congress of Hearing Aid Acousticians: Knowing how to do it!

Digitisation was the focus of the 63rd International Congress of Hearing Aid Acousticians, held in Hannover from 17 to 19 October 2018. More than 8,000 delegates from 83 countries took part. On 15,000 square metres of floor space, 142 exhibitors presented their innovations.

For hearing aid acousticians and manufacturers of hearing systems, digitisation is nothing new. What is new, in fact, is that thanks to growing acceptance of technological advances and suitable fitting provided by hearing aid acousticians, customers may enjoy a multitude of new possibilities. This means more quality of life for the individual’s everyday life. The Congress was also a place to find out how this new age can be made accessible to customers. Among the special features of the Congress were topics such as artificial intelligence in hearing systems, innovative designs, and translation functions.

Technological development is advancing at rapid speed. In order for hearing aid acousticians to know what is possible and will be possible in the future, the European Union of Hearing Aid Acousticians (EUHA) offered a programme comprising twenty lectures, seven tutorials, and a roundtable talk. Over the course of three days, 32 lecturers from Germany and abroad discussed their research topics, innovations and their practical implementation.
