Course introduction:
This course presented by Dr. Jeffrey Strakowski from Ohio State University will review potential clinical value of imaging nerve and muscle with high frequency ultrasound including comparison to other imaging modalities. It also will contrast the diagnostic value and adjunctive relationship to electrodiagnostic testing. It will discuss the sonographic appearance of normal and abnormal nerve and muscle and also provide clinical scenarios demonstrating the use of high frequency ultrasound to provide critical diagnostic information.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar the participants will be able to:
- Learn the sonographic appearance of normal and abnormal peripheral nerves and muscles including image optimization.
- Understand the advantages of high-frequency ultrasound over other types of imaging for assessment of neuromuscular disorders.
- Understand the relative value of electrodiagnosis and neuromuscular ultrasound in combination in the assessment of neuromuscular disorders.
