Course introduction:
Case studies can be difficult and confusing as we all do things a little differently and have different values from which to compare.
We can, however, look for the common items to dig down to the answers. In clinical practice the History and Physical are the foundation to help when the findings are not perfectly clear.
In this webinar we will review the data of several common entrapments/compressions. What do the numbers tell us? How do we, based on these findings, evaluate severity? We will also review Conduction Blocks and Wallerian degeneration and relate the findings of these. How do these findings differentiate different nerve injuries? Are there additional studies we can record to help clarify the findings?
We will review a distally predominate symmetrical polyneuropathy. What consistencies are we looking for? How do we answer the questions asked and the ones not asked?
We will review the data in different brachial plexus lesions. How do we localize lesions in the brachial plexus? What studies should we focus on to get the most out of our testing?
Along with the brachial plexus case studies there will be a cervical root avulsion injury case. How is the approach to this case different than the brachial plexus cases?
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar the participants will be able to:
- Understand a printed NCS/EMG report.
- Evaluate a report while looking for values outside the expected ranges.
- Use the history to turn these abnormal values into an impression.
- Gain some general insight to some common nerve injuries/entrapments/compressions.
