Course introduction:
In recent decades there have been significant advances in EEG technology with algorithms and Trends that help identifying critical episodes in neurological patients. Quantitative EEG (QEEG) transforms, compresses, and rectifies the raw data of EEG frequencies and amplitudes into trends and graphs that are more accessible to interpret in clinical practice.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar the participants will be able to:
- Understand what is Quantitative EEG (QEEG).
- Usefulness of the different types of Trends.
- Learn the usefulness of QEEG in a video-EEG study for epilepsy, patients in ICU and neonates.

El Dr. Luis Carlos Mayor es médico neurólogo – epileptologo, en el departamento de neurologia del Hospital Universitario Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá.
Director de la clÃnica de epilepsia y del laboratorio de electroencefalografÃa.Se graduó en Medicina y posteriormente en neurologia clinica en la Universidad del Rosario.
Posteriormente fue fellow en NeurofisiologÃa ClÃnica y Epilepsia en Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit Michigan y luego en University Hospitals Case Medical Center, Cleveland- Ohio.
Es docente de postgrado en neurologÃa de la Universidad del Bosque y profesor titular en la especialización de neurofisiologÃa clÃnica- Epilepsia, de la Universidad del Rosario.
Es miembro y fellow de la American Epilepsy Society y de la American Clinical Neurophysiology Society. También es certificado en clinican neurophysiology with added competence in epilepsy monitory y critical care EEG monitoring por el American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology.
Es miembro de la ILAE Neurophysiology Task Force of the Diagnostic Methods Commision y miembro de la ILAE Educational Task Force of the Paediatrics Commission.MD
