Course introduction:
In this presentation, Dr. Christopher Skidmore will discuss the most common EEG testing modalities, when to utilize each technique, and the limitations for each technique. Combining each technique provides a more detailed understanding of the true seizure generator in individuals being evaluated for epilepsy.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this seminar the participants will be able to:

  • Name the indications for various forms of EEG
  • Identify pitfalls of various EEG techniques
  • Demonstrate how the various forms of EEG provide complimentary information

    Christopher Skidmore

    MD Associate Professor, Associate Director Neurology Residency and Vice-Chair for Clinical Affairs

    Dr. Christopher Skidmore is a Professor of Neurology affiliated Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadephia, PA. He received his medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine and completed fellowships in Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology. He specializes in general neurology, child neurology, sleep medicine, temporal lobe epilepsy, and electroencephalography. Dr. Skidmore’s many publications include topics on EEG monitoring, temporal lobe epilepsy, neurostimulation in medically intractable seizures and adult focal epilepsies.
