This technical note explains how to identify, reduce, and troubleshoot artifacts in EEG recordings, including physiological sources such as eye, muscle, movement, cardiac, and sweat activity, as well as electrode, electrical, equipment, environmental, and implanted-device interference. Its goal is to help technologists improve EEG signal quality and prevent artifacts from being mistaken for abnormal brain activity or seizures.
