Photoplethysmography (PPG) in sleep

Background

Plethysmography is the measurement of the changes in volume within an organ or whole body (usually resulting from fluctuations in the amount of blood or air it contains.) Photoplethysmography (PPG) is a simple optical plethysmography technique, used to detect volumetric changes in blood in peripheral circulation. This technique provides valuable information related to the cardiovascular system and it is well-known for extracting cardiac-synchronous pulsatile signals from subjects from which, for example, the heart-rate can be
derived.
