When confronted to neuromuscular junction disorders, Repetitive Nerve Stimulation and Single Fiber EMG both play a role in daily diagnostic activities. RNS provides useful information even though the pathophysiology of Myasthenia Gravis covers more mechanisms than the story of antibodies. At the same time, Single Fiber EMG has become a key component in AANEM guidelines.

In this presentation, we will be covering the pathophysiology of Myasthenia Gravis and EDX protocols for both techniques. In addition, practical tips & tricks will be provided to overcome pitfalls of accurate recording and interpretation.

Learning objectives:

  • Key concepts in pathophysiology of Myasthenia Gravis
  • Present protocol for Repetitive Nerve Stimulation
  • Understand the role of Single Fiber EMG
  • Overcome pitfalls in RNS/SFEMG recording and interpretation
