This lecture focuses on the critical role of physicians in treating Musician’s Focal Dystonia (MFD), a prevalent but frequently underdiagnosed condition among musicians. It explores the current, still nascent, approaches to MFD management, emphasizing various rehabilitation techniques. The lecture also examines three video case studies and discusses a dual-guided intervention using electromyography and ultrasound to provide a comprehensive understanding of this challenging condition.

Learning Objectives:

  • To detail how to perform anamnesis and physical exam on a musician with MFD suspicion;
  • To learn how to medically video analyze a musical performance;
  • To explain how to perform a dually-guided botulinum toxin injection with ultrasound and electromyography.
