MasterMind Series: Monitoring Progression of Neuropathies - Rationale and Pitfalls

Course description: Electrodiagnosis (EDX), specifically nerve conduction studies (NCVs), are an essential part of the diagnosis of neuropathy. Once made, the next challenge is in monitoring progression in neuropathy. Numerous techniques are available in addition to standard NCVs. This course will review how NCVs are best employed in the long-term evaluation of neuropathies.

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand the limitations of electromyography and nerve conduction studies.
2. Be aware of common pitfalls in performing electrophysiologic studies.
3. Be able to select the best techniques for monitoring progression in neuropathy.
