In this presentation Dr. Hawryluk from the Cleveland Clinic discusses current perspectives on intracranial pressure monitoring in brain injured patients. This will include new perspectives on the physiology of intracranial pressure elevation and when monitors should be placed. It will also discuss recent progress in advanced neuromonitoring and emerging uses.

Learning Objectives:

  • understand Rosner’s vasodilatory and vasoconstriction cascades and the role of cerebral blood volume in intracranial pressure
  • become familiar with SIBICC consensus views on ICP monitor insertion
  • understand novel advanced neuromonitoring strategies
