Neuromuscular Ultrasound is a very valuable adjunct to electrodiagnostic testing for neuromuscular conditions including focal neuropathies. It provides enhancement to electrodiagnostic techniques with improved visualization of anatomy, more precise localization of nerve injuries, anatomic correlation providing insight into the source of injury and a multitude of other advantages. The use of ultrasound for these purposes with be discussed in detail.

Course Objectives:

1. Review the relative strengths and weaknesses of electrophysiology and ultrasound.
2. Learn advantages of using ultrasound in conjunction with electrophysiologic testing.
3. Review case examples of neuromuscular conditions where ultrasound improved the diagnostic acumen.
