DaiWai Olson began his nursing career over 30 years ago at Mercy Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. He moved to North Carolina in 1994 and worked at Duke University for almost 20 years before moving to Dallas TX. In 2007 DaiWai obtained his PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2013, he was recruited to join the faculty at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, TX where he now works as an Associate Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery and Director of the Neuroscience Nursing Research Center. Dr. Olson has focused his work on developing a more comprehensive understanding of how nursing care contributes to patient outcomes following acquired brain injury. In this endeavor, he has published over 150 scientific articles and book chapters, and over 125 scientific abstracts. He is the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Neuroscience Nursing, co-editor for the AANN Core Curriculum, and an editorial board member for Nature Scientific Reports.
