There are many methods of neuromonitoring in the NICU including amplitude-integrated EEG (aEEG), EEG, Cerebral ultrasound (CUS), near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), MRI and evoked potentials). Each of these methods have their benefits in differing patient populations.

During this eSeminar, neuromonitoring for infants with HIE, cardiac malformations, inborn errors of metabolism and preterm infants will be discussed. Literature reviews and new research data will outline advantages and limitations of these methods in this special group of patients

By the end of this e Seminar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify methods available for neuromonitoring in the NICU (aEEG, EEG, CUS, NIRS, MRI, EP)
  • Describe individual patient groups who will profit most from neuromonitoring in the NICU
  • Discuss and identify appropriate methods suit individual groups of patient’s best
