Ultrasound plays an increasingly prominent role in clinical practice. Although substantial evidence supports the enhanced value of combining electromyography (EMG) with ultrasound in the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular diseases, the use of ultrasound remains somewhat underutilized.
This lecture aims to provide healthcare professionals with the practical knowledge needed to incorporate neuromuscular ultrasound into their clinical practice, ultimately improving the evaluation and treatment of patients with neuromuscular conditions.
Learning Objectives:
1. Learn to Identify Nerves. Recognize nerves and differentiate them from other structures, such as arteries, tendons, and veins.
2. Identify Accessible Nerves in the Upper Limb. Become familiar with the most accessible nerves in the upper limb, including the median, ulnar, and radial nerves.
3. Detect Pathological Changes. Learn to identify alterations in nerves that are associated with neuromuscular disorders.
