About Course

Monitoring intracranial pressure (ICP) is a standard of care for brain-injured patients at risk for intracranial hypertension. Understanding the principles of ICP will assist the clinician in assessment and management to reduce the risk of secondary brain injury in this patient population.

At the end of this series, the health care professional will be able to:

  • Describe the fundamental principles of intracranial pressure
  • Differentiate between internal and external transducers
  • Analyze ICP pulse waves
  • Identify nursing considerations for a patient with ICP monitoring
