Event Details

EEG plays a fundamental role in the management of comatose patients following cardiac arrest. Several EEG patterns are strongly associated with outcome and EEG is recommended as part of the multimodal prognostication paradigm. Periodic and rhythmic discharges are common in these patients. Some of them represent an opportunity for intervention.

Learning Objectives:

  • To recognize the most common EEG patterns encountered in post-anoxic coma and their prognostic significance
  • To discuss the role and limitations of reactivity testing in this setting
  • To learn how to integrate EEG in the multimodal prognostication paradigm
  • To review the evidence for the management of post-anoxic SE

This course is approved for 1.0 CEU by ASET – The Neurodiagnostic Society.
