Course introduction:
Please join us for this highly informative educational event presented by Dr. Daniel Gossett, Medical Director for the Epilepsy Center at Children’s Health Plano and private practice partner at Texas Child Neurology. During this presentation, Dr. Gossett will cover appropriate indications and use of routine and ambulatory EEGs in the private practice setting. This will include the basics of ordering, reading, billing and staffing concerns.
Course Objectives:
- Familiar with the necessary hardware, staffing, and protocol investments for an in-house EEG lab
- Familiar with typical indications and accepted diagnosis codes for routine and ambulatory EEGs
- Aware of limitations to EEG studies and identify patients who would be unlikely to benefit from EEGs or who could create challenges to either the technical staff or hardware

“Dan Gossett is originally from Houston, and graduated Magna cum Laude from the University of Houston Honor’s College with BS in Biology and BA in Chemistry and went on to receive his MD from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Gossett completed residencies in Pediatrics and Pediatric Neurology from University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and Fellowship in Pediatric Epilepsy from University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine. Dr. Gossett is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and is board-certified in Neurology with special qualifications in Child Neurology and in Epilepsy
“Dr. Gossett joined Texas Child Neurology in 2016 and was accepted as a Partner in 2019. Dr. Gossett also serves as the Medical Director of the Epilepsy Center at Children’s Health Plano, where he was instrumental in the design and build of the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and subsequent certification as a Level 3 Epilepsy Center by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers. Dr. Gossett also serves as Medical Director of Concorde Career College Grand Prairie Neurodiagnostic Technologist Program.
