Course introduction:
This eSeminar will give a comprehensive overview on the current knowledge and use of amplitude-integrated EEG (aEEG) in the pediatric intensive care unit with a focus on the pediatric cardiac ICU. Knowledge of normal values away from the neonatal period and limitations will be discussed. Cases will underline why neuromonitoring is important in the PICU and how it can help.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this eseminar the participants will be able to:
-
- Know the normal values of aEEG in pediatric patients and pitfalls
- Understand indications in the PICU and cardiac PICU where neuromonitoring can help
- Know the course of brain activity during cardiopulmonary bypass
- Know the high risk population for neurodamage in congenital heart disease
This course is eligible for 1.0 CEC by ASET – The Neurodiagnostic Society
