In this eSeminar we will discuss the potential indications of continuous video-EEG monitoring, the strengths and weaknesses of video-EEG in coma, the most appropriate duration and timing of the recordings, and introduction of the most recent concepts in the EEG interpretation.
Learning objectives:
- Know the indications of continuous video-EEG monitoring

Dr. José Luis Fernández Torre background includes the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and the Doctorate in Medicine and Surgery (Cum Laudem) from the University of Cantabria (UNICAN). In addition he holds a Master in Management of Health Services at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Cantabria. He completed his training in pre-surgical evaluation of patients with refractory epilepsy at King’s College Hospital in London under the direction of Prof Colin D. Binnie. He is currently the head of Clinical Neurophysiology at Hospital Universitario Marques de Valdecilla, President of the Spanish Commission of Clinical Neurophysiology, Associate Professor of Neurophysiology at UNICAN School of Medicine and Researcher at the Biomedical Research Institute (IDIVAL), Santander, Spain.
He is the author of of 97 scientific articles (Pubmed) in different areas of Clinical Neurophysiology, author of 6 book chapters and expert reviewer for Journal Citation reports, including Lancet Neurology, Brain, Neurology, Epilepsy, Seizure, Journal of Clinical Neurophysiology, Neurocritical Care amongst others.
