Lumbar puncture measures intracranial pressure at a single point in time and may not be reliable, however, treatment decisions are frequently based upon this reading. Our study compared lumbar puncture opening pressure with the Camino bolt intracranial pressure monitor in 12 children. Findings changed the treatment of all 12 children.

She has spoken nationally and internationally on pediatric neuroscience topics. She is a past president of AANN, the co-editor of the book Nursing Care of the Pediatric Neurosurgery Patient, co-editor of chapters in the AANN Core Curriculum, a member of the JNN editorial board, and a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.
