eSeminar – Management of delayed-onset hearing loss

It might be assumed that newborn hearing screening programs guarantee the identification of hearing loss in childhood. However, some childhood hearing losses have a later onset and will not be identified through newborn screening methods. During this talk some important information regarding late-onset and progressive hearing loss in infancy and childhood will be addressed.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar the participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the prevalence of childhood hearing loss
  • Explain how newborn screening programs can miss a hearing loss
  • List the most common causes of late-onset and progressive hearing loss
  • Identify the main risk factors associated with late-onset and progressive hearing loss
  • Describe ways to monitor for late-onset and progressive hearing loss
