Course introduction:
Please join us for this ON-DEMAND event of a previously broadcast eSeminar. The anatomic and physiologic basics of neurography will be discussed. This will include motor conductions, sensory conductions, and F waves. Recognition of artifacts and errors will also be covered.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this eSeminar the participants will be able to:

  • Understand the basic anatomy and physiology of the motor and sensory responses in neurography.
  • Be able to improve their results through understanding sources of error.

    Dr. Paul E. Barkhaus

    M.D., Ph.D

    Dr. Barkhaus is a Professor of Neurology and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and founder and Director of the ALS Program as well as Director of the Neuromuscular Diseases Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Barkhaus completed his medical education and training at Wayne State University in Detroit followed by a fellowship in EMG at the University of Minnesota under Dr. William Kennedy and additional training in quantitative EMG in Uppsala Sweden with Dr. Eric Stålberg and Duke University with Dr. Donald Sanders. Also, Dr. Barkhaus began a productive collaboration in EMG research with Dr. Sanjeev Nandedkar, who at the time, was a research engineer in the Duke EMG laboratory and currently is a senior consultant here at Natus Medical. Drs. Barkhaus and Nandedkar have been collaborators since 1986 on multiple research and educational projects.

    Additionally, Dr. Barkhaus has authored or coauthored 65 peer-reviewed publications and 40 peer-reviewed books, chapters, and reviews. He received the Distinguished Researcher Award from the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic medicine in 2015.
