Change can be challenging in any industry and over the past several years and recently with the COVID pandemic, the field of neurodiagnostics has been facing a great deal of it as well. For technologists adapting to that change is key. With the pace of new technologies increasing and a growing number of services being offered, our role is changing and it is essential that we continue to adapt.

This is both an opportunity and a challenge. By the end of this discussion our hope is that you leave with some general idea of how you can grow your individual skill set, as well as, some ideas of ways that you can continue to contribute to this evolving field.

  • Discuss credentialing  requirements expected of technologists
  • Describe the growing need for technologists due to expanding services
  • Understand  the impact of COVID-19  and the shift to remote monitoring
  • Understand the coding impact and the creation of the new Intermittent Monitoring Technologist

    Roya Tompkins

    M.S., R.EEG/EP T, RPSGT

    Roya Tompkins, M.S., R.EEG/EP T, RPSGT entered into this field as part of an internship during graduate school and found a career in Neurodiagnostics that includes over 25 years’ experience. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from James Madison University in Virginia and a Master’s Degree in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience from the University of Texas at Dallas. After being the Neurophysiology Clinical Manager at a large pediatric hospital in Dallas for 9 years, she started her own business providing testing and training services in 2007.
    She is the author of The Neurodiagnostic Niche blog and the director of the North Texas Neurodiagnostic Academy.
